10 Benefits of Electric Ovens

!±8± 10 Benefits of Electric Ovens

Gas ovens have always been the first choice for most restaurants and other commercial food service establishments. In fact, if you were to poll consumers, you'd find that most would prefer a gas oven as well. While electric ovens are undoubtedly inferior to gas ovens in many regards, they do have a following among consumers for a number of reasons, here are 10:

1. Compared to a gas-powered oven, an electric oven provides a more even temperature. Although it seems trivial, the level temperature is especially important for baking cakes and pastries.

2. Electric ovens are energy-efficient. Gas is less environmentally friendly.

3. Most electric ovens come with a self-cleaning feature. When cooking, spills and such are obviously inevitable. Because ovens are hard to clean, having a self-cleaning option can save time.

4. The electric version has less moisture. Although for some crusts and other baked goods having a moist oven is a benefit, most foods cook better with drier heat. Plus, moisture can be added to an oven, but not taken out.

5. Because the heat is more even and comes from the top of the oven, broiling in an electric oven works better than a gas oven. Before important holiday meals or dinner parties, broiling quickly and evenly keeps you from having to waste time by constantly re-checking progress.

6. Electric ovens lose less heat. Because the heat is more controlled, it is less likely to leave the oven. The loss of heat not only costs money; the extra heat in the kitchen has to be compensated for by equally expensive air conditioning costs. Therefore, you not only lose the money from the unit, but you spend even more in A/C bills later.

7. Electric ovens require less maintenance. Gas ovens are more prone to breakage. The electric oven runs longer with fewer problems saving money on repairs.

8. Electric versions require less ventilation than gas ovens. Ventilation can not only be expensive, but the ventilation occupies a lot of room, taking up space where cabinets or other appliances could be. This is especially important in smaller kitchens.

9. For less experienced cooks, electric is much easier to use and manipulate when just starting out. The temperature is not only more precise, but the electronic scales and numbers are easier to read than the classic knobs on most gas ovens.

10. The electric oven is one of the only oven models that allow a good roast. Because of combustion, gas burns off moisture which makes even roasting virtually impossible. This is an especially important consideration for roasting meat. Because of the water, the meat loses a lot of the classic roast taste and even more of the appealing look. With chicken, the crunchy skin is also lost because of the moisture in the cooking air.

For at-home cooks, choosing an oven is a personal process that depends on preferences and cooking styles. Electric ovens do have some advantages over gas. The energy is more efficient and less heat is lost, therefore saving money. Plus, the electric oven in the end saves time and effort, two commodities that are in short supply in most households.

The specialty of the double oven ranges

!±8± The specialty of the double oven ranges

Double oven ranges are very special places where space matters a lot. In particular house, there is a great need for cooking different foods, but using a single oven, they find it very difficult to manage cooking. Even if they buy another preparation kitchens, they will not have enough space to install in their kitchen. In these cases need to change or renew your kitchen to make room for another oven, or you have to buy one of theseDevice.

The first idea to change your kitchen will cost more, as well as an oven. However, if you buy this, you have the same low space requirements for installation. This is the main advantage of this great and cookware.

In addition, double oven helps to cook faster. You can cook more items in one place, without any problem. Whereas, if two separate ovens, you need to focus separately on both the stoves. With this type of oven,an oven top and a main oven. In some models the most important of them will have a fan oven that cooks faster rate and in the top oven is used to help the heating, because they have an agreement fan.

In the last section, both equipped with oven and main fan. This will help you to cook two or more different curves at the same time. If you have several family members, you can opt for double oven. The costs associated with double ovenvery few.

However, make sure you are one who buys your purpose. Because if a high enough yield double oven, buy buy the waste of energy and if you made a low double oven, then you have to wait longer to finish cooking.

Cook and Hold Ovens

!±8± Cook and Hold Ovens

The cook-and-hold oven, or "oven retherm", as sometimes called, is an excellent choice for the preparation of meals convenience. Schools and hospitals use to heat large quantities of frozen foods, ready meals, ravioli, macaroni and cheese, dishes with sauces or gravies made and keep warm until serving. The cook-and-hold advantage is the low constant temperature, which heats the product, without drying or burning it.Exactly where large quantities of roastedMeat to eat, cook and hold capacity is also a must. To combine radiant and convection heat to make meals gradually, while reducing to a minimum. When the cooking is finished, turn off the oven timer contains some ways that keep food warm. Holding is recommended for real-roast beef, for example, because the enzymes in meat to give their personal distress as an organic process over the roast sit for a minimum of 90 minutes immediately afterCooking. You'll find three basic types of cooking and keeping food production:

1 Only one type of oven uses natural convection (no air movement), the cooks a little more focus, and maintains a humidity of 90 to 95%.
2 Another roasted at lower temperatures, with a presence in the slow movement of air and humidity from 30 to 60 percent.
3 A third option is the oven "smoke-and-hold", the cold smoking (ie, smoking, low temperature) can then be gradually roastedanything from salmon, tomatoes, nuts on.

An ordinary cook-and-hold, some with a microwave system (which allows the stove to burn wood and coal) and an ash tray smoke-and-hold will be converted. Smoke-and-hold ovens are a bit 'higher demand for electricity. They also require hoods that are not needed, otherwise nice addition to the more suitable for large volume cooking, cook-and-hold ovens performance effectively, simply because, althoughThe cooking times are longer, reducing the temperature and require much less energy than conventional ovens. Some food service companies make their slow cooking at night, because they are safe and low temperatures can be monitored. The heat range of a cook-and-hold oven is always 140-245 degrees, 140 degrees Fahrenheit is the lowest temperature that prevents a firm grip of dangerous bacteria from multiplying. Some ovens have a timer (fry up to 100 hoursTime could be scheduled) or to determine electric meat probes, when the elements are ready.

In both cases, the oven automatically returns to its temperature maintenance, when asked to do so. If you experience a change oven temperature programmed large, will activate an audible warning and / or light caution. Mini ovens can be ordered with a carving station, the buffet lines. Simply because they cook so slowly, you should cook meat in an oven-and-hold will be placed on the shelves so that they brownthe same way, place a baking sheet to catch any drippings on the stove. The power demands of cooking and hold ovens range from 120-volt alternating current at 380 volts AC. No special ventilation is required, the 5-inch roller kilns can be rolled up. The ability to cook a baked-hold and getting items is about 90 pounds, stacked double ovens can be maintained as much as 180 pounds

Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Devices That Save Lives

!±8± Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Devices That Save Lives

A carbon monoxide detector can be one of the best do-it-yourself home security investments you'll ever make. Plain and simple, carbon monoxide detectors save lives.

They do not detect smoke like a smoke alarm or heat like a heat detector unless they're designed to perform this double function.

(In which case it is clearly indicated on the box they come in).

They detect the presence of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas at high levels in a home environment and sound an alarm to inform the occupants of the lethal danger.

Without a detector, carbon monoxide gas is practically untraceable.
It's odorless, tasteless, and invisible.

How CO is produced:
Carbon monoxide is a gas that is produced whenever fuel is burned improperly. It can be produced by:
Oil and gas furnaces. Gas powered hot water heaters Gas ovens and ranges. Wood-burning fireplaces. Charcoal BBQ grills. Running car engines.

It's a result of incomplete combustion. If a fuel-burning device is malfunctioning and located in a closed or poorly ventilated area, CO can build and reach deadly levels.

Install a carbon monoxide detector to be notified of dangerous CO levels the moment they occur.

Types of detectors:
There are three basic types of carbon monoxide detectors available on the market today.
Electrochemical Semiconductor Biomimetic

1. Electrochemical CO detectors confirm the presence of carbon monoxide gas in the air by detecting the slight changes that the gas causes to a unit's internal electrical current.

Electrical current changes are measured and monitored by internal sensor electrodes that are immersed in a chemical solution. Any changes in the current will sound the alarm.

Electrochemical CO detectors are highly recommended.

They are classified as being the best type of CO detector you can buy. They have a reputation of instantly detecting dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

These units are battery operated have a life span of 5 years or more.

2. Semiconductor CO detectors were the first CO detectors to be invented. They also confirm the presence of carbon monoxide gas by detecting slight changes in electric current.

Instead of a chemical solution however, the units use an internal heated semiconductor - usually tin dioxide. When carbon monoxide comes into contact with the tin dioxide, it creates a change in the electrical current by lowering the resistance across the semiconductor.

This increase in current triggers the alarm.

This type of carbon monoxide detector is a good choice because it requires practically no maintenance.

3. Biomimetic CO detectors use a gel pack filled with synthetic hemoglobin to confirm the presence of carbon monoxide gas in the air.

CO gas is absorbed into the gel pack causing the hemoglobin to change color. Sensors detect the color change and notify the unit's processor to sound the alarm.

Biomimetic detectors are known to trigger false alarms due to the contaminants that accumulate in the gel pack over time.

The gel pack should be changed once every 2 to 3 years. These units can last up to 10 years and operate on battery power.

Where to install CO detectors:
As a general rule, a minimum of one carbon monoxide detector should be installed on every floor of your home including the basement.

Detectors should be located close to each bedroom or sleeping area. Usually within 10ft. As an addition safety measure, CO detectors can also be placed close to any fuel burning devices such as furnaces or water heaters.

Before installing your CO detector, contact your municipality. Inquire about the local by-laws covering CO detectors in your area. When installing the unit, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

(The above instructions can be applied to smoke alarms and heat detectors as well).

If you live in the US, you can find your state statutes concerning CO detectors by clicking here.

Choosing the right power source:
Carbon monoxide detectors are powered in one of three ways. They can work with a ...
Battery Power Source 120v Power Source 12v/24v Power Source

1. Battery Power Source CO detectors run on batteries. When the batteries run low, the units chirp annoyingly to inform the homeowner.

These types of CO detectors may not be the best choice because they require a commitment of maintenance. The batteries need to be changed once a year.

Studies show that most people don't bother changing the batteries yearly. They remove the batteries altogether to eliminate that annoying chirping sound. Without a power source, the detector cannot sense carbon monoxide gas.

2. 120v Power Source CO detectors plug directly into the wall socket.

These types of carbon monoxide detectors are a better choice.

However, in the event of a power outage they offer no monitoring capabilities. Without electrical power, the unit is dead.

Yes, some units do come with a battery backup in case of power failures.

The question is, will you think to check your CO detector during a power failure? Will the battery backup work?

3. 12v/24v Power Source CO detectors can be connected directly to your system's security panel. These types of detectors are clearly the best choice.

Once they are part of your security system, the central station that monitors your alarm system daily can monitor them as well.

Some security systems dial out as opposed to being centrally monitored. Depending on the setup, the security system may be configured to directly dial out and contact local authorities when the carbon monoxide detector senses high levels of gas.
